MING GU

BARRISTER-AT-LAW

Ming graduated from the University of Queensland in 2014. He was admitted as a solicitor in 2015 and as a barrister in 2022. While Ming maintains a diverse practice, he focuses primarily on criminal defence. His legal work is informed by his background in law enforcement, prosecutions, and court advocacy.

Prior to his legal career, Ming qualified as a certified practicing accountant. After university, he gained experience in banking, working in due diligence and credit analysis. Ming then joined the Queensland Police Service, where he spent about seven years in frontline policing and prosecutions. He later moved to Victoria Police, serving as a senior lawyer and leading family violence prosecutions in a regional office. Following this, Ming was called to the bar and established his private practice as a barrister.

Ming’s varied professional experience has honed his ability to identify potential irregularities in law enforcement processes. When reviewing cases, he considers both the substantive merits and the procedural legality of law enforcement actions, aiming to safeguard all parties’ legal rights.

Ming has appeared before courts in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, as well as the Federal Court of Australia. Ming is a member of the following professional associations.
